Mud, mud, I love Mud!

Tigerlily's room has the first coat of mud on the drywall seams!!  It'll be sanded tomorrow and another coat added and then sanded tomorrow evening.  We may be able to paint it Sunday after we get back from puppy picking !!  I am sooo excited for my baby girl.

We are closing on our mortgage tonight and then out to dinner with our niece and her boyfriend, so not much will get done in there tonight.  That is ok, hubby needs a break!

We had spaghetti for dinner last night.  Tiger decided that she really enjoyed sucking the noodles in and then spitting them out and sucking back in again..LOL.  She actually ate quite well, she even had some of the meat sauce.  I was wondering if she may be a vegetarian.  She also had 1/2 a banana and 1/2 cup of blueberry yogurt.  I left her in her highchair while I cleared the table, did a few dishes and got her bath ready in the sink..I turned to talk to Marc for about 30 seconds and when I turned back around there was TL with a pile of noodles on her head and a big smile on her face.  This kids is so entertaining.  She loves to laugh at herself, as do we!  So into the soapy water she went to get the meat sauce out of her hair!

Sleep did not come easy for me last night.  I had just gotten Tiger to sleep at 8 and I was almost in dreamland when the phone rang at 8:45.  It was my mother calling to tell me that I had to go get Sophie in the morning if I needed her to babysit.  Sophie is my neice who watched TL on Thursdays and Fridays.  Her mom works a block away so she drops her off at our home on her way.  Well a call this late telling me this did not make me happy.  First I thought why the heck could they not call me themselves??  Then I thought, great I am going to be at least an hour late for work.  They live 1/2 hour away and I refuse to wake my daughter up in the morning for any reason. So I stewed about that all night along with the acid reflux compliments of my pregnancy, I slept maybe 4 hours total.  I am over it now!

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend!  I will psot puppy pics Tuesday at the latest!

hello?

It is fascinating to me how alert and well, smart my 13 month old is.  She can show you her belly button of you ask!!  Just a few days ago she discovered mine and thought it the funniest thing ever to poke at it!!  Finally I drew her attention to her own and that became her plaything of the minute.  Just for giggles, last night, I asked her to show Daddy her belly button and she picked up her shirt and stuck her finger in her navel!!  We laughed so hard.  If you say "hello" to her, she will pick up her play telephone, tuck in between her cheeck and her shoulder and walk around the living room babbling.  I just thought last night, we are very rarely on the phone at home, where did she get that from.  I used to take her to work with me until she was 7 months old.  Could she have possibly retained that from me bringing her with me??  Amazing what kids know and retain.

She has been calling me Mommy and my hubby Daddy for about 2 months now.  She just started trying to say grammie and grammpy.  They are now lovingly called "ME & PEE"  I fell off my chair laughing when I heard her call my dad PEE!!  They are so happy to be called anything!! As spoiled as this little girl is, I can't imagine how much Marcius will be!!  Oy!

Well I have an audit to get ready for here at work, and much needed filing to do (not my nails either!)

Have a blessed day.

Her name was Lola...

Well, we found a litter of puppies.  The breed we are looking for too.  They are Aussie/Sheltie crosses.  There are 9 of them and the owners are letting us have the pick of the litter, actually I guess the puppy will pick us.  I am hoping that the runt will pick us.  She sounds like a dear.  And I already have a name picked out for her, Lola.  Of course if a boy puppy picks us, we will name him Boston, after the Red Sox.  We are going to see them SUnday, and we'll be able to pick up the newest member of our family the third week of August.  I will bring my camera and post pics Monday.

We will be painting Tigers room on Saturday (well hubby will be) I am sure I will be outside with Tiger or off running errands for the day.  I have picked blue thistle for the color.  I hope she likes it.  Once her room is done, we can move everything in to it, move our room contents into the nursery, rip our old  rug out, put down Pergo flooring, paint the walls, and re-arrange the room.  I can add nice curtains, some throw pillows.  That will make me feel good, like we have an adult room.

Well today has started off well so far, although it is going to be a scorcher.  I will stay in here with the A/C as long as I can!!  Please take care all!

Oh the Guilt!

It has been a few days since my last blog, things have been very hectic for me.  Last Friday there was an executive board meeting here.  This happens once a month here but only once during the summer.  I got  a million things done here Friday for everyone.  Cut checks, researched and ordered a PA system, got our water cooler fixed, found someone to strip and wax the floors here, got bids for paving the parking lot and alot more piddly stuff and I got a raise to boot!

My dear husband has been busting his butt trying to get Tiger's room finished so I was banished to my folks all weekend so the dust and sawing and nailing wouldn't scare Tiger.  Poor Tiger is still not feeling herself so she was miserable and just wanted Mommy all weekend.  I could even go pee without her crying big alligator tears.  My father, the old fashioned man he is, kept telling me,  just let her cry, she's manipulating you.  I finally told him to mind his business, she is MY baby and if I want to hold her all damn day I would.  He went to mow his 10 acres after that.  I could see the glint in my mom's eye after that.  She wouldn't dream of talking to my dad like that, but it makes her smile inside when someone puts him in his place.

It is not relaxing at my parents at all, it is loud, they have a nice house and lots of land outside but they live on a major highway and are 1 mile from a paper mill so log trucks are constatly zooming by.  The air conditioner is loud so the TV has to be louder than that and they kept asking why can't she sleep?? DUH.  Not to mention every time she started to doze, the phone would ring or the dog would bark or my mother would drop something.  I was so happy to go home yesterday evening.  My baby girl finally wound down and fell asleep around 9:00 pm.

Now, about the guilt.  I kept thinking this weekend.  How come when I need to run to the store or clean the house or do anything, it is with the baby.  Hubby goes to the market, gets outside to mow the lawn (a job I love) and generally does everything he needs to without me or the baby.  When we are all home, I have all I can do to unload the dishwasher or make dinner without chasing Tiger around or shooing her from under my feet while he is reading the sports page....he worked all day don'tcha know.  Now we both work very hard and love eachother and our daughter but I just want a few hours to do what I need (not necessarily want) to do.  But I feel so guilty asking him to take her visiting or for a ride because he is doing so much around the house too. I feel guilty that I need some time alone.  Our Grandmothers would be choking right now reading this they worked harder and would dream of doing anything without a baby on their hip...yadda yadda yadda.

Ok all vented and all better LOL.  I hope you all had a great weekend and your week is full of laughter!

One man's junk is another mans HOUSE

Ok, so here we are bopping along, living our lives.  All is well with the refinancing, our closing was coming up, THOUGHT the appraisal went well. HA!!  Maria from XYZ mortgage company called to tell me that there was a problem with our apparaisal, it was much lower the the one we had 11 months ago.  I asked how much lower, that makes no sense??  she said 32,000 lower.  WHAT THE F!@#???? No way I said we just put 15,000 in improvements and additions!!  We have a brand new kitchen, brand new living room, Tiger's new room will be done by the end of the weekend.  We have fenced in the backyard, have planted to raised beds with veggies.  Landscaped, added a small pond.  She agreed that it doesn't make sense and that the girl in the skimpy clothes didn't know what she was doing. So they hired a new company, scheduled to come on a Saturday, again, sometime between 9 and noon. Thank god for my dear husband.  He called to tell them he appreciated their effort but Saturday wasn't acceptable. He wanted them to be there tomorrow at 11am.  So there we have it, tomorrow at 11am is our new appraisal!!  Wish us luck.

Tiger has had a fever of approx. 100.5 for the past 3 days. Took her to the Dr. yesterday because she got these odd blisters on her laegs an one on her face.  Apparently the Dr. is stumped, we are just supposed to keep a close eye on her (like I don't anyway) and Tylenol for her fever.  Her spirits are good and her fluid intake is fine but she isn't eating much at all.  So I am having a hard time concentrating on work today, I just want to home cuddling with my baby girl.

Here in Maine it is a sweltering 94 degrees.  I am not complaing, we had so much crappy weather through June that I don't mind this at all, Thank God my office has A/C!   These are the days that ice cream has no calories!

Take care all.

How did you grow up?

Do you have great childhood memories?  I hope that you do, I think every person deserves to have a fun and full childhood, with attentive and loving parents.  I did not have that.  Don't get me wrong this is not a parent bashing blog entry, I just wanted to share/vent.
We moved from one small town to another when I was 7.  At 7, I was just forming bonds with school friends and neighbor kids.  We lived on a street full of kids and moved to the country where the nearest kids was 2 miles away.  No more walking home from school and stopping to get penny candy at the five and dime along the way.
We moved because my dad was transfered from one mill to another and wanted to be closer to work, 1 mile to be exact, although my mother still traveled the 25 miles one way for the following 22 years to her work.
We had to be very inventive with our time in the summer, finding something fun to do.  We were not allowed to go near the river that runs behind the house but we could go play at the pond next door.  We caught a lot of tadpoles and frogs!  We played in the abandoned barn next door until I realized that barn spiders get a big as your head.
Before we could actually go out and play we had to "do the list".  This meant the list of things to do that my mother left on the table EVERY DAY.  Clean the bathroom, do all the laundry and hang outside, make sure all the dishes are done, start supper by 4..and so on.  Well this list was broken up, a Janet to do list and a Jerry to do list.HA HA HA!  My brother threatened me everyday with some sort of torture if I didn't do his part of the list.  The one time I fought back and said no he chased me outside and shot me several times with his Daisy BB gun.  Ya we had a real love fest going on.

After a  few years my brother got into sports and girls and was not home during the summers or after school anymore.  So I was on my own, we were latch key kids by the way, looking out for ourselves.  He would ride his bike to the field for practice, a 14 miles round trip hike. He didn't care, he would leave and go to a friends house or girlfriend of the week.  He had endless energy.  When I turned 12 I was finally allowed to ride my bike the 2 miles up the road to the Whiitemores. They had 3 sons and next door to them were 2 girls.  I of course could not go there until or unless my chores were done, and when the garden needed to be weeded I would be stuck home doing that for days.  So my time with my new friends was limited.
I really didn't know how to socialize, so when Jr High and High School started for me, I made few friends,m and no life long ones.  This fact still tugs at my heart.  I must say that my husband was one of my closest friends then and of course the love of my life now, but to have a close girlfriend to share secrets with and giggle uncontrollably with, I would have done anything for that. I lived in the shadow of my very popular brother.  Few people knew me as Janet, only Jerry's little sister.  I have gotten over this fact as much as I ever will.  I am a grown woman with a beautiful family now.  I love my parents and brother dearly. I am closest to my mother I must say.  Jerry and I see eachother "whenever" and we get along fine but no closeness there unfortunatly.
I gues the old adage applies, If I knew then what I know now.....who knows.  I love me, now, finally.
Sorry for the whiny tone of this but just feeling nostalgic and hoping that my children will always be happy and never know the aloneness I felt growing up.
My next blog will be much more up beat, I promise!

Just plain silly

Our weekend was very nice, it actually didn't speed by as it usually does.  We had our appraisal on Saturday.  The mortgage company said the appraiser would be there between 9am and noon, sure enough, 11:55 it was! It took her about 15 minutes to do what she needed to do and another 10 minutes of questions and she was done.  She was wearing short shorts and a tank top with tatts all over her legs.  She was a very nice girl and acted professionally but, I guess I was al bit taken aback by her attire.  I would dream of wearing something like that to work.  What happened to respect for your profession? Regardless of whether you like your job or not, you should look the part.  Ok enough of that.

Saturday afternoon was spent grocery shopping and lunching with Tiger and my mom while Marc worked on Tigers new bedroom.  I got home by 4:00 and we had a nice dinner, played outside, and I was in bed by 8:30!!

Sunday we got up, had a nice breakfast.  Tiger actually ate really good.  Then we went for a nice looong ride in which Tiger slpet the whole 2 hours.  We stopped at a farm stand and bought some beautiful baby red potatoes.  I can't wait for fried green tomatoes!  Planting was late this year because of all the rain, I think I have a few week before those.  God Bless the farmer.  Such hard work, I hope it is rewarding for them.

Tiger has taken to acting very silly.  She hops up and down at certain commercials and laughs at nothing at all.  She points at us and talks non stop gibberish then walks away laughing.  I left this morning and she was in her high chair trying to eat french toast sticks with out her hands, just by bending over and using her tongue to push food around on her plate. She make me laugh, I mean really laugh, not the fake, fell like you gotta laugh laugh.  She is fascinated by this commercial with Tonya Roberts pushing some properties in Las Vegas, she and Alan Thicke both do the same comercial, but it is just the on with Tonya Roberts ( she is Donna's mom on That '70's show) that she drops everything for.   Any weird thing your kids do? Would love to know.

I hope your weekend was a great as mine!

Long Weekends

I came to work Monday morning and as I was running payroll, needed to phone my boss.  It obviously sounded as if I interrupted his vacation, but when he realilzed I was calling from the office and the call was work related ( why else would I call my boss?)  he let me know that it was a holiday for me and to get outta there!  I was sooooo thrilled!  My husband had to work but I got to spend a whole day at home with my baby girl.  How much fun we had!  She showed me how well she can get up into and out of her new rocking chair, we danced to songs by the Wiggles and Choo-Choo soul.  She even figured out how to get on her new 4 wheeler and push the button that makes it go. She took a nice long nap that allowed me to do some much needed housework and watch the food network.

We went to a friends for the 4th. and Tiger went in a big pool for the first time.  We got her a float that she sat in and we pushed her around the pool.  She loved it.  Her little toes looked like raisins.  We had a ball and were home by 6pm.  She slept so well too, only 1 wake up.  It is so important to spend time with your family, no matter what.
